Ride Alongs

At River Hills/Lake Wylie EMS, we offer a ride-along program for EMT and paramedic students to gain experience working in the field. York Technical College, Central Piedmont Community College, and MedCenter Air allow their students to complete their ride-along time with us. For most, this opportunity serves as their first experience working in an ambulance. We are proud to have the opportunity to help prepare future EMS personnel to work in pre-hospital emergencies.

Students can practice patient care by taking vitals, obtaining patient demographics, and communicating with patients. They can practice EMS skills such as airway procedures, administering medications, and splinting injuries. Additionally, the students become familiar with BLS/ALS protocols that they will eventually use in the field when they gain certification. While riding with River Hills, students also get the opportunity to practice National Registry skills to prepare for their practical examinations.

Are you or anyone you know interested in becoming an EMT or paramedic? If so, feel free to contact our service, and we can help you connect with the resources needed to get started!
