The purpose of the River Hills/ Lake Wylie EMS Junior Member Program is to introduce high school students ages 15-17 to the field of Emergency Medical Services (EMS). Junior Members will receive training in CPR, the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)/monitor, and will learn many important skills such as obtaining manual vital signs and building communication skills. Upon turning age 15, they will be eligible to ride with two certified members on 911 EMS calls.
The students receive training during their shifts and ride along with the ambulance crew to 911 calls and experience what it is like to be a first responder. Juniors are also welcome to in-service training (IST) to keep updated on their skills and get refreshers on protocols. All we ask for is a willingness to learn and enthusiasm! If you or a high school student you know are interested in learning more about our junior program, contact us via email or phone.
